Former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has promised to play to England’s strengths .

Tuchel gained a reputation as being adaptable during his 20 month reign at Stamford Bridge, using different tactics as he employed a back three to outwit and beat to win the European Cup in 2021.

But Tuchel also promised to deliver an attacking, physical style which will fit with English football and should deliver results.

Ex-Bayern Munich boss Tuchel said: “They have to be balanced and our style of play has to bring us results. We are playing with players for the best league and the biggest competition in the .

“We have a group of young hungry players. We are desperate to win a title, so we have all the ingredients, so I think we should try to implement this into our style of play.

“I think we should play an attacking style of football and we should try to emphasise a physical side of the game because this is what English football is all about and this is what excites our supporters, and this is what suits the players.”

Tuchel on Harry Kane

Meanwhile, Tuchel has a “legend in English football” - but did not give him any reassurances over the captaincy.

Former boss Tuchel signed Kane for the German giants for £90m in the summer of 2023, the England star scored 44 goals in 45 games and remains a huge fan.

But Tuchel insists that he did not speak to Kane before taking the England job and also did not want to make any promises with Lee Carsley remaining in interim charge for the remaining Nations League games next month.

When asked about the captaincy, Tuchel said: “I haven’t done it yet. It’s too early to answer these kind of questions.

"I didn’t speak to anyone. I did not speak to Harry. I didn’t speak to . Normally I never do this, I get my own feeling. I get my own point of view and let it sink in and reflect on it.

“You know how highly I think of Harry and how much I fought to bring him to Bayern Munich. He is already on his way to being a legend in English football.

“But now I think it is very important to give the respect to Lee and have the camp in November and take his decisions free of me interfering.”

Tuchel on the national anthem image

Tuchel has admitted he has yet to decide whether to sing the English national anthem. Interim boss Carsley caused a storm when he said he would not sing God Save The King during his reign.

It would be unusual to see a German sing the national anthem at Wembley but Tuchel typically gave a considered answer even if he put the issue on hold until next year.

Tuchel said: “I have not made my decision yet. I want to be very honest with you. Your anthem is very moving, the English anthem is very moving. I experienced it several times here at Wembley, even out with the players at the final. It was very touching.

“No matter what decision I will take - we have time until March - I will always show my respect to my new role, to the country and of course to a very moving anthem. But as this is a new subject I will take a bit of time for this decision.”
