Napoli are reportedly close to making a final decision on the future of their striker Victor Osimhen in the summer transfer window.
Chelsea's connection to the Nigerian striker started in the 2024 transfer window when it had become clear that Osimhen wished to leave the Serie A club. However, negotiations for his signature became a prolonged affair.
The Naples club looked to be set on selling Osimhen to the Saudi Pro League with Al Ahli pushing for him. However, a move to the Middle East was not seen as a good career switch for the striker.

The Blues tried to get a deal done but eventually time ran out and the striker remained in Italy. Chelsea's loss proved to be Galatasaray's gain as they signed the forward on loan for the remainder of the campaign with their main competitors in Europe unable to prevent the switch.
Osimhen excelled in Turkey and became a hero among the club's supporters as he registered 37 goals across all competitions. Upon his return from Istanbul, the priority for the 26-year-old remained the same - leave Napoli permanently.
Al Hilal have been keen admirers but, again, Osimhen is yet to be convinced on the merits of moving to Saudi Arabia. With Premier League clubs struggling to meet Osimhen's wage demands, Galatasaray are seen as the favourites to re-sign the forward - this time, permanently.
While no specific club was mentioned, Football Italia understands a final decision for Osimhen's exit will be made soon. The centre-forward could bring in as much as £64m for Napoli this summer.
If Galatasaray were to sign Osimhen, it would be considered a huge coup by the Istanbul club and bring to an end the saga surrounding Chelsea and the player. The Club World Cup has presented a sense of urgency for the Blues to complete their summer business.
Liam Delap and Joao Pedro have both arrived to strengthen the centre-forward position. The latter got off to an immediately impressive start as he scored twice to defeat his old club Fluminense 2-0 in the semi-finals.
