If you always seem to have a stubborn section of that sticks out above the rest, it's likely you've got a cowlick. Put simply, it's a section of hair that grows in a different direction to the rest.

While it can be incredibly annoying when you're trying to style your hair, it's completely harmless. That being said, you don't have to just put up with it. Online content creator Rachael Eppley shared a quick-fix with her 218,000 followers - and it's as easy as using just one ingredient.

In the clip, she wrote: "In case your mum didn't teach you how to fix the cowlick." She then separated the section of hair that bothers her, the cowlick, and added some water to the roots at one side of it, and then the other, before using a brush.

Once all the hair was brushed, she used a hair dryer, making sure to flip her har upside down too. Afterwards, she showed how the cowlick had magically disappeared.

"I need this cause my cowlick makes me look bald," said one social media follower. Another added: "Thank you! I feel like as I'm getting older my cowlick is worse." A third commented: "I've never needed to see a TikTok more than this one."

According to , "cowlicks are extremely common" and can "range from unnoticeable to glaringly obvious". On its website, it adds: "They tend to be less apparent if they're on your crown and you have long hair. Hair texture can also impact how noticeable cowlicks are. With straight hair, it's easier to see when some strands are growing in a different spot. Fine hair is also likelier to stick up and can be more challenging to tame."

While you can't get rid of them completely, because they are a natural part of your hair's growth pattern, you can definitely make them less noticeable. Blow drying in the opposite direction can help - especially if you've wet the hair beforehand.

According to L'Oréal, suing a round brush can help - you should first dry toward the left, then the right. "This back-and-forth motion helps to 'reset' the hair's natural fall and break the strong pattern of the cowlick," the hair experts said.

If you give your hair a blast with cool air you can help set it in place.
