Along with this, air pollution has also started spreading its feet. On one hand, cold is starting in Delhi, UP, and Bihar, while a period of heavy rains has started in Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. People's lives are becoming difficult due to rain. Heavy rains have been falling in Chennai, Tamil Nadu since this morning. In view of this, schools and offices in Tamil Nadu are closed today. Along with this, the government has declared a holiday in Andhra Pradesh till 17 October.
Closed till October 17
Let us tell you that many districts of Andhra Pradesh are receiving continuous heavy rains, due to which the state government has declared holidays in schools, colleges and other educational institutions in the affected areas. The government issued an order stating that schools in other districts like Tirupati, Chittoor, Nellore and Prakasam will remain closed till October 17, 2024.
Alert issued
IMD has issued an alert of heavy to very heavy rains in Andhra Pradesh till coming Thursday. This is happening due to the low pressure system forming in the southern part of the Bay of Bengal, which is expected to strengthen and move towards the coast, causing heavy rains across the state. According to the IMD alert, districts like Krishna, Bapatla, Nellore, Prakasam, Tirupati and Chittoor are likely to receive heavy rains till Thursday, with wind speeds reaching up to 65 kmph here. Apart from this, very heavy rains are expected in Sri Sathyasai, Annamaiah and YSR districts.
The state government has issued an early warning to district collectors, urging them to prepare for possible flooding in low-lying areas. Fishermen have been advised to stay away from the coast due to dangerous sea conditions.
