The Param Sundari star Janhvi Kapoor is in talks to lead Sridevi’s iconic movie Chaalbaaz.
Janhvi Kapoor is gearing up to take on a role once made iconic by her mother. According to a trusted source, a top producer has approached her with the official remake of Chaalbaaz, offering her the lead part.
A source told Bollywood Hungama, “For Janhvi, Chaalbaaz is a lot more than just a film. It's an emotion. She has jumped onto the chance of playing the lead role in Chaalbaaz, but is treading this with utmost caution.”

The insider added that Janhvi isn’t merely trying to bank on her mother’s legacy, but is determined to do justice to it.
“She is taking opinions from people around for the Chaalbaaz remake. She is excited, but is also wary of all the comparisons. She is expected to take a call on the Chaalbaaz remake by the end of September,” added the source.
Earlier, Shraddha Kapoor was reported to play the lead in Chaalbaaz’s remake, which was titled ‘Chaalbaaz in London’, but the project didn’t materialise due to creative differences and the pandemic.
About ChaalbaazChaalbaaz, directed by Pankaj Parashar, was released on 8 December 1989 and is remembered as one of Sridevi’s most iconic films.
A comedy-drama with a twin-sisters plot, it showcased her exceptional versatility as she played the contrasting roles of the timid Anju and the feisty Manju. The film was a commercial success, grossing around ₹6.75 crore, making it one of the top hits of that year.
Critics praised Sridevi’s powerhouse performance, with many calling it a masterclass in comic timing and dramatic range. She won the Filmfare Award for Best Actress, cementing Chaalbaaz as a landmark in her illustrious career.
Meanwhile, Janhvi Kapoor’s latest release, Param Sundari, just crossed its first weekend and has collected Rs 28.48 crore.
