Citroen India recently launched the Citroen C3 CNG hatchback in the Indian market. The Citroen C3 CNG is offered with a dealer-fitted CNG kit, costing Rs 93,000 more than its equivalent petrol variant. This brings the starting ex-showroom price of the C3 CNG to Rs 7.16 lakh. The company offers a 3-year/1 lakh km warranty on the CNG components, the same as on the standard C3. Interested customers can visit their nearest Citroën dealership to get the retrofit done. The new Citroen C3 CNG is offered across four variants—Live, Feel, Feel(O), and Shine—priced between Rs 7.16 lakh and Rs 9.24 lakh (ex-showroom). The new Swift CNG is available in three variants - VXi, VXi (O) and ZXi variants with prices ranging from Rs 8.20 lakh to Rs 9.20 lakh (ex-showroom). The Citroen C3 CNG offers more variant options and a lower starting price, making it more accessible. The Swift CNG starts at a higher price but remains slightly cheaper at the top end.

The Citroen C3 CNG kit can be paired only to the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated engine, which produces 82 hp and 115 Nm when running on petrol. While Citroën has not disclosed the power and torque figures for CNG mode, as is common with CNG-powered vehicles, the power and torque figures for the C3 CNG are expected to be slightly reduced compared to its petrol counterparts. It claims an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of 28.1km/kg and is offered only with a 5-speed manual gearbox.

The CNG Swift is powered by the same Z12E, 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, NA petrol engine, which puts out 69.75 hp of power and 101.8Nm of torque. This engine gets CNG treatment for the first time and comes paired only with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The hatchback gets a single large cylinder setup, and Maruti claims that the new Swift CNG has 32.85km/kg of fuel efficiency.

Comparing the dimensions, the new Swift measures 3860 mm in length, 1735 mm in width, 1520 mm in height, and 2450 mm in wheelbase. The petrol Swift has a boot space of 265 litres, and the CNG model's boot space has not been revealed by the company. For reference, the CNG tank in the Swift has a capacity of 55 litres (water capacity).

The Citroen C3 measures 3981 mm in length, 1733 mm in width, and 1604 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2540 mm. The petrol Citroen C3 has a boot space of 315 litres; the CNG model's boot space has not been revealed by the company. For reference, the CNG tank in C3 also has a capacity of 55 litres (water capacity). The Citroën C3 is longer, taller, and has a longer wheelbase, and the Swift is slightly wider. The C3 petrol offers 50 litres more boot space than the Swift petrol; actual CNG boot space for both remains undisclosed.

In terms of features, the CNG C3 will continue to get 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, a 7.0-inch full-digital instrument cluster display, automatic climate control, electrically adjustable ORVMs, a rear parking camera, day/night IRVM, 15-inch diamond cut alloys, fog lights, rear wiper and washer, rear skid plates, a rear defogger. It also gets six airbags as standard and it continues to get other safety features such as Electronic Stability Program (ESP), TPMS, hill hold assist, ABS, EBD, and rear parking sensors.

Talking about the features in the Swift CNG, the VXi spec gets features such as airbags, ESC, remote central locking, halogen projector headlamps, 14-inch steel wheels and power windows. The VXi (O) additionally gets a height-adjustable driver’s seat, a 7-inch infotainment screen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and steering-mounted controls. The top-of-the-line Swift ZXi gets features such as LED projector headlamps with DRLs, 15-inch alloy wheels, wireless charging, automatic climate control, rear washer wiper and more.
