Gujarat Titans (GT) skipper has been fined after his team maintained a slow over rate during Match No. 35 of the IPL 2025 season against Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday.
“As this was the team’s first offence of the season under Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which relates to minimum over-rate offences, Gill has been fined INR 12 lakhs,” said the official statement from IPL.
Unlike previous seasons, the IPL 2025 regulations no longer include player bans for repeat over-rate violations. Instead, offenders will receive fines, demerit points, and in-game penalties. Several players have already been penalised this season for similar offences, including Axar Patel (DC), Sanju Samson (RR), Rajat Patidar (RCB), Rishabh Pant (LSG), Riyan Parag (RR), and Hardik Pandya (MI).
