The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is currently suspended due to the border tensions between India and Pakistan. Though the BCCI is hoping to resume the tournament due to reports of a ceasefire between the two nations. Despite the reports of the tournament to most likely resume after suspension, the foreign players are left in a muddle during these circumstances.
The Australian cricketers are among the players who are facing a huge challenge, whether to return to play the tournament or not. Amidst the tension between the two nations, the Aussie players had already boarded their flights to go home. According to a report by ‘The West Australian’, the uncertainty of the Aussie cricketer returning to play the tournament after resumption still looms after they are left shaken by the situation between the two countries over the past week.
Some reports hinted that the BCCI has handpicked Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad as the venues to resume the tournament, which are away from the border. However, the return of top international Australian cricketers which include, Nathan Ellis, and Travis Head, looks very unlikely since the teams they are representing are already eliminated from the competition with two to three league games remaining. Cummins and Head are among the key players for the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), while Ellis is part of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) squad. The two teams are currently languishing at the bottom of the table.
