Govinda’s wife, Sunita Ahuja, is known for her explosive statements about the actor. In a recent appearance on Kajol and Twinkle Khanna’s podcast Two Much, the ‘Hero No 1’ star said that his wife is like a child, and he had to forgive her for her lack of filter and impulsive actions.
Not to be deterred, Sunita has now called him out for the comment and retorted that he had done his fair share of mistakes but she had forgiven him as well.
“I have to ask him, what have I done that you need to forgive me? You’ve committed so many mistakes, but I’ve kept forgiving you. I always say it’s okay to commit mistakes in one’s youth. I’ve also committed many. Govinda has definitely committed many. But once you grow older and have kids, you should keep a check on yourself…” she told Pinkvilla.
She also hinted at infidelities, stating that it was not easy to be a film star’s wife, as they spent more time with their co-stars than with their spouses.
“Why mistakes even then? You have a nice family. You have such a beautiful wife and kids. Then, why?” Sunita argued that her thinking is different from Govinda’s because she’s very attached to their kids,” she said.
She added, “See, he’s a hero. What can I even say? Heroes spend more time with heroines than us. He’d go for a shoot for 40 days, and I stayed back home. But then you have to be a very strong woman to be a hero’s wife. Your heart should be made of stone. This is what I’ve realized after 38 years of marriage…”
She also claimed that he made her keep the marriage a secret for a long time, and it was only after the birth of their daughter, Narmada, that his marital status was revealed.
“After our marriage, I was sitting mum about it for a year, until Tina (Ahuja, daughter) was born. Then (our marriage) it was declared. It was such a big sacrifice that I didn’t step out of my home for a year,” she said, adding, “There was a trend that the hero’s fan following gets reduced once he gets married. That’s why I got pregnant quickly. So that if not today, they’ll have to let me out later.”
She concluded by saying that she doesn’t want Govinda as a partner. “I have said it on Kapil Sharma’s Show too—he is a very good son and brother, but not a husband…”
