Operations started at Mumbai International Cruise Terminal ( MICT) Monday. An official statement said Union Ports, Shipping, and Waterways Minister Sarbananda Sonowal flagged off cruise operations from India’s largest terminal.
The newly inaugurated MICT is designed to handle 1 million passengers every year with an approximate 10,000 passengers per day. It can handle five ships simultaneously, with 11 meters draft and up to 300 meters length, the statement said while adding total investment in the MICT project has been Rs 556 crores.
Sonowal also oversaw an agreement signing ceremony for development of infrastructure projects worth more than Rs 5,700 crores at Vadhavan Port.
An official statement said agreements were signed to develop a terminal for handling container, bulk, and liquid cargo with investment of Rs 4200 crores. In addition to this, agreements for development of a dedicated terminal for handling bulk and liquid cargo with an investment of Rs 1,000 crores were also signed.
