Two months after saying goodbye to his beloved cat Caramel, Parminder Singh thought he’d closed the door on that chapter of his life. But life, as it often does, had other plans. In a twist that felt almost poetic, a new cat began showing up at his home — in the same way Caramel once did — eventually walking in and sitting right beside Caramel’s framed photo. The moment Singh said, felt like the universe was quietly sending a sign.

Parminder Singh holds a physics degree from Delhi University and later earned an MBA in marketing from UBS, Chandigarh. Sharing his experience on X, Singh wrote about how he and his family had decided not to adopt another cat after Caramel’s passing. With their dog Waffles still around, they felt their hearts couldn’t take another heartbreak. But soon after, a new feline started appearing at their doorstep. The cat’s former caretakers, an elderly couple, had fallen ill, so Singh began feeding her. One morning, she walked in and made herself at home in the exact spot where Caramel once loved to sit.

Two months ago, Caramel - our cat passed away.
We said no more cats. We couldn’t take another heartbreak.

We still had Waffles, our dog. That felt enough.

The internet was deeply moved by the story, with many calling it both heartwarming and mystical. One user asked if the new cat had a name yet and hoped Waffles had welcomed her kindly. Singh replied that he hadn’t named her yet and wasn’t entirely sure about it. Another person offered a gentle suggestion — to name her Mocha, a sweet continuation of Caramel. Many believed this was no coincidence, with one user calling it the cat distribution system working with Caramel’s blessings.

Among those touched by the post was Bengaluru-based cardiologist Dr Deepak Krishnamurthy, who said there’s something truly mystical about cats, even after having four at home himself. Others shared their own experiences of finding peace through such moments. One recalled losing a 13-year-old pet dog and unexpectedly encountering a black dog at a temple, describing it as a sign that their beloved pet had found its way to heaven.

Sharing a lighthearted update later, Singh mentioned that the unexpected visitor had now become a regular around the house — and a much bolder one at that.
