Boss' Day , as the name suggests, is a special day dedicated to celebrate and appreciate our bosses for their hardwork and leadership . Many bosses at the workplace often go above and beyond their duty to mentor and guide their employees. Sometimes, they are also kind enough to treat their employees as humans and not robots-- which helps make the workplace a better place for everyone. And so, each year this day is celebrated on October 16 to honour and celebrate such bosses.
Historically, it was in 1958 when this day was first registered as National Boss' Day with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce by Patricia Bays Haroski . Back then, Patricia was working as a secretary for State Farm Insurance Company in Illinois and it is noted that her father was also her boss. To appreciate her bosses and highlight their hardwork, Patricia chose October 16 which was also her father's birthday. In 1962, four years later, Illinois Governor Otto Kerner supported Patricia's idea of having a Boss' Day and it was then officially proclaimed.
