Baramulla: The Indian Army on Wednesday foiled a major infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir. A gunfight broke out after Army troops fired upon the infiltrators.
The infiltration bid was thwarted in the Churunda area of Uri in the Baramulla district of north Kashmir, officials said, as reported by PTI.
One soldier reportedly killed in action during the gunbattle According to reports, the infiltration was attempted by Pakistan’s Border Action Team (BAT) and terrorists on the intervening night of August 12 and 13.
A search operation is currently underway.

The infiltration bid was foiled amid the ongoing Operation Akhal in a forest area at Akhal in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district. The operation which started on August 1 entered day 12 on Wednesday.
Lance Naik Pritpal Singh and Sepoy Harminder Singh were killed in action, while five terrorists were also neutralised by security forces.
