What happens when the spirit of the earth meets the mysteries of the universe? Artist Hema V. Thakur answers this with art that speaks of femininity and the cosmos in her latest solo exhibition, 'Bhoomi To Bramhand', currently on display at the FPH Gallery in Nariman Point.

Journey from Earth to the Universe
Step into Hema's exhibition, and you'll instantly feel a deep spiritual pull. This isn't just an art show; it's an emotional narrative. Her acrylic and oil works are the sacred journey from Bhoomi (Mother Earth) to Bramhand (the Universe), and each painting pays homage to the divine force of womanhood.
With 3D depictions of the moon and celestial forms, Hema blends traditional Warli influences with a modern lens, creating a fusion style that is visually captivating and emotionally grounding.
"I wanted to create something that reflects not only the universe outside us but also the universe within every woman. There's beauty, silence, and unimaginable strength," shares Hema.

Artist who found herself through art
Hailing from the small village of Undirkhed in Jalgaon, Maharashtra, Hema's story is one of quiet resilience. Though she was never professionally trained, her passion for creativity began as a young girl while helping raise her siblings. Life took her to Nashik post-marriage, where art became her quiet escape. "For a long time, I kept my art hidden. I was scared of being myself," she recalls.

"Once I believed in myself, I had to share it with the world. My art is not just for me—it's for every woman who needs a reminder that she is powerful."

Today, Hema’s work has travelled the globe, from the New York Art Expo to exhibitions in Italy, and she has received accolades like the Best Artist and Artist of the Year from the Spandan Group of Arts. Her innovative Fusion Warli Art even earned a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records and the Wonder Book of World Records.
