A 20-year-old woman died in a road accident involving a tempo and a motorcycle on April 29. The Bangur Nagar police registered a case and arrested the tempo driver, Jaiprakash Somairam Gautam, who was later released on bail.
The accident occurred near the Sony TV Junction at Mindspace in Malad around 8pm. The victim, Tejaswini Bargude, was a pillion passenger on a motorcycle ridden by her friend, Titus Chetty. They were headed to Mindspace to play badminton when a tempo, attempting a sudden U-turn, collided with their bike. Tejaswini was thrown onto the road and struck a tree, sustaining fatal injuries.
She was rushed to Shatabdi Hospital, where she was declared dead. Based on Titus’s complaint, a case was filed against Jaiprakash Gautam for causing death due to reckless driving.
