Nagpur Road Mishap: Maharashtra Human Rights Commission Initiates Suo Moto Case Over Repeated Two-Wheeler Accidents On Ambazari Stretch

Mumbai: The Maharashtra State Human Rights Commission (MSHRC) in Mumbai has initiated a suo moto case against the Municipal Commissioner of Nagpur Municipal Corporation following a video clip showing multiple two-wheeler accidents caused by a gap in an Ambazari area road in Nagpur. The accidents resulted in injuries to at least five riders in quick succession.

“The video clip which shows that as there is a gap in two portions of a road in Ambazari area of Nagpur, atleast five two-wheeler riders suffered serious accident in quick succession causing injuries to them. This state of affairs is reflecting negligence on the part of Nagpur Municipal Corporation in protecting the human rights of the residents of the city warranting cognizance by this Commission,” the order copy passed by Chairperson Justice A.M. Badar.

The commission has issued a n

otice of proceeding and requested a fact-finding inquiry report from the Municipal Commissioner, Nagpur Municipal Corporation, to be submitted within four weeks. A pen drive containing the video clip will also be forwarded for perusal.

Immediate repair of Ambazari Road directed

The Commission has issued interim directions. The Municipal Commissioner of Nagpur Municipal Corporation is ordered to take immediate steps to repair the Ambazari Road to prevent further mishaps and loss of human life.
