The Uttar Pradesh government has mandated Aadhaar authentication for approval of building plans in all urban development authorities and housing boards. As per a recent notification issued by Principal Secretary (Housing) P. Guruprasad, the new requirement aims to enhance transparency and eliminate fraudulent submissions.
To streamline the approval process and address frequent complaints under the current Online Building Permission System (OBPS), the state is rolling out a new software called Fastpass. This system is designed to significantly reduce delays and bring uniformity to digital map approval procedures. Under Fastpass, applicants will be required to upload their Aadhaar card and complete an e-KYC verification. A checkbox for self-declaration will also be included during registration. These steps aim to ensure that only the rightful property owner can submit map approval requests.
The new software is expected to address issues of impersonation, where maps were previously passed using details of unrelated persons. All urban development authorities and the Housing and Development Board have been instructed to implement this system with immediate effect. The change is part of a larger initiative to digitise and safeguard the approval process as urban expansion continues across major cities in the state, including Lucknow, Kanpur, Varanasi, and Meerut.
