Uttar Pradesh has recorded a significant rise in exports over the last eight years, with the figure growing from ₹88,967.42 crore in 2017–18 to ₹1,70,340.95 crore in 2023–24. The data reflects increased global demand for products from the state and expansion in key sectors such as electrical goods, garments, carpets, leather, and fertilizers.
According to official data, electrical machinery exports rose sharply to ₹38,756.50 crore in 2023–24 from ₹4,056.38 crore in 2017–18. Other notable increases include pharmaceuticals (₹9,114.30 crore to ₹14,053.62 crore), nuclear machinery and boilers (₹3,275.80 crore to ₹7,297.03 crore), and carpets (₹4,048.12 crore to ₹5,516.06 crore).
Major export destinations now include the United States, France, Spain, Germany, the United Kingdom, Russia, the Netherlands, and China. Products from Uttar Pradesh are currently shipped to over 100 countries.
To sustain and further this momentum, the state government is finalizing a new export policy. Proposed measures include product certification subsidies up to ₹25 lakh, development of district-level export hubs, ODOP scheme expansion, improved logistics, and targeted skill development programs.
While these gains suggest growth, long-term outcomes will depend on consistent policy execution and global trade dynamics.
