Alejandro Garnacho's return to Manchester United was marked by an awkward touchline confrontation with defender Leny Yoro. Garnacho left United this summer after criticising manager Ruben Amorim for his lack of playing time in the Europa League final loss to Tottenham.
In the aftermath of that controversy, Amorim told Garnacho he could leave United in the next transfer window. Garnacho made it clear that he would be willing to move away from Old Trafford and was made a part of Amorim's 'Bomb Squad'.
Determined to stay in the Premier League, he secured a move to Chelsea, much to the disappointment of United fans. Little more than a fortnight after the deal was sealed, Garnacho returned to Old Trafford in the Premier League.
He was met with boos from home fans as soon as he stepped off the Chelsea team bus and jeers greeted him during the pre-match warm-up. Garnacho didn't get on the pitch as Chelsea's substitutions were impacted by Robert Sanchez's early red card, but still faced hostility from the home crowd who expressed their displeasure with chants aimed towards him throughout the match.

The animosity towards the Argentine didn't seem to stop in the stands. A video originating from the Stretford End, shared on X, seems to show a heated exchange between Garnacho and his ex-teammate Yoro.
As the Chelsea player ran down the touchline, he was met by the centre-back. Initially, it looked like Garnacho tries to greet Yoro, but when that was ignored, he barged into the defender before heading over to Kobbie Mainoo, who did acknowledge him.
Joshua Zirkzee also shook Garnacho's hand, but the uncomfortable reunion with Yoro clearly indicates tension between the United squad and the winger. It was ultimately United who had the last laugh as they celebrated a 2-1 victory over Chelsea to ease the pressure on Amorim.
Unless they face each other in the FA Cup next year, the Red Devils won't encounter Garnacho again until mid-April when the return match takes place at Stamford Bridge. Amorim said on Friday: "Garnacho is not our player. I’m really happy with Mason and (Matheus) Cunha returning. The rest you have to talk with the Chelsea manager."
Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca explained why Garnacho didn't make it onto the pitch. He said: "Garnacho was ready to go.
"But then Wes [Fofana] asked for the change because he was tired after a long time so we decided to go for Malo [Gusto]. But the idea was to give Garnacho minutes."
