For any actor, showing off their naked body is undoubtedly a nerve wracking experience. But it looks as though star welcomed nude scenes with open arms after being inundated by private messages from fans.
So much so, he asked showrunner Michael Patrick King for more nude scenes for the third season. Mario, 65, became a fan favourite during Sex And The City playing Charlotte's best friend Anthony Marentino and returned to the reboot along with the original cast including Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristen Davis.
Avid fans of the original series will remember Kristen's character Charlotte introduced Anthony to Stanford Blatch and at first the pair were at loggerheads. But during the second SATC film in 2010, fans saw them tie the knot.
However, Willie Garson who played Stanford sadly passed away in 2021 which left show bosses to change the storyline to him moving to Japan and later filing for divorce.
Michael Patrick told Mario that he was giving him a new storyline by introducing a hunky man who later becomes his boyfriend. Speaking on Kristen's podcast Are You A Charlotte?, he explained that despite being nervous, he got himself a fitness trainer and started working out.
He admitted: "So guess what, I got me a trainer, and I started working out. I have a backside shot. I’m in bed with Sebastiano, who I just adore. I’m the luckiest man in the with that."
After the pair engage in a heated discussion over their different preferences in the bedroom, fans see Mario's naked bottom as he turned to walk away.
Speaking about the overwhelming fan support, he added: "My DMs blew up the next day. I like being sexualized at 65 years old. It’s good."
Back in 2021, it was reported that another fan favourite Samantha Jones, played by Kim Cattrall was not going to be killed off in the hope of a possible return. An industry told the Daily Mail at the time: "We’ll announce eventually that the show will have a second season. This isn’t a one off, this will be a series."
They added: "It will be quite a while between the first and second series as Sarah Jessica Parker has a busy schedule and we have a lot of work to do to get Kim Cattrall back. We all miss Kim and we hope she comes back for the second season – the door will never close on her, she is an important part of the franchise."
At the time it was claimed that show bosses wanted life to imitate art and create a fall out between Carrie and Samantha to explain Kim's absence.
The insider continued: "You’ll see as the series progresses over the 10 episodes that Carrie misses her friend and wants to repair the relationship. In the words of Oscar Wilde, life imitates art."
Surprisingly, following call from the bosses and a heavy pay cheque, Viewers saw her on the phone with Carrie as the pair did not film together.
