Chris Eubank Jr did NOT suffer a broken jaw in his brutal win over Conor Benn on Saturday night.
Eubank Jr was given the nod by all three judges after 12 back-and-forth rounds in which both fighters were hurt. He was then taken to hospital after leaving the ring and did not attend the post-fight press conference. Benn, who was disconsolate after suffering his first professional defat, did speak to the media and claimed he had broken his rival's jaw. He said: "I wish him well. I know he’s gone to the hospital, I have heard he’s got a broken jaw do I wish him a speedy recovery."
But while Eubank Jr remains in hospital, his promoter Ben Shalom denied he had suffered such an injury. "I'm pleased to confirm that Chris is doing well and currently resting. There is no truth to the rumours regarding a broken jaw. As part of his standard post-fight protocol, Chris went to hospital for precautionary checks to monitor his vitals and ensure everything is in order,
he said in a statement.

"They take these measures very seriously, given everything they have experienced in the past. This process is something they now prioritise after every fight Chris and Conor gave absolutely everything in what was the biggest legacy fight of all time. With their fathers standing proudly behind them, it was a moment that will forever be stamped in sporting history."
Before being taken to hospital, Eubank Jr said: “I’ve upheld the family name, like we said we were going to, so it’s onwards and upwards.” He continued: “The fact that our fathers did what they did all those years ago, it brings out another soul and spirit – and that’s what we both showed tonight.
“Everything surprised me, I didn’t know he had what he had in him,” Eubank Jr said. “I thought I’d break him early. I underestimated him. I didn’t train for a fight like that — he’s never shown that, but then again, he’s never had to show it. He had to show it tonight, and so did I.”
Benn, meanwhile, admitted the defeat was difficult to take. “It’s a hard one to swallow,” Benn told a press conference. “I didn’t come into the fight thinking it would be that close, I didn’t come into it to lose, I came in to win and I was not good enough and I need to do better.”
He continued: “I want the revenge, I want my revenge. “I think inactivity played a big part. I think it took me back. I had Eubank hurt multiple times but I couldn’t get the finish and I’ll make sure for next time that the finish is there.”
