There were deadly scenes on on Thursday night as Joe Tate plunged from a window at Home Farm in a grisly whodunnit.
The character was exposed for his many lies and crimes, creating a very lengthy suspect list. As most of the village gathered for the surprise birthday party of Lydia Dingle, it was Joe in the spotlight as all those he wronged prepared for revenge.
Noah Dingle had him exposed for drugging him back in February, with this incident leading to the limo crash that claimed the lives of Amy Wyatt, Leyla Harding and Suzy Merton. Villagers also figured out he was behind the stabbing of Caleb Miligan and that he'd likely stolen his kidney too.
His affair with Dawn Taylor was also exposed, as Joe's scheming ways came out in full. There was also a moment with the police but he managed to talk them round.
But someone took a deadly revenge wanting to ensure Joe got his comeuppance. As the episode came to an end, as shown on ITVX that morning, Joe was left motionless and injured on the ground at Home Farm, as the camera trailed out off a smashed window above him.

So who pushed Joe and what was their reason? More importantly, will Joe survive or is he leaving the soap in a death twist? Joe actor Ned Porteous appears to have dropped some major hint about his soap future, and his character's fate.
Speaking to The recently about the shocking scenes, he revealed all on his thoughts on the twist, as well as the fallout. He remained coy about whether Joe lives to tell the tale, but a couple of comments teased he might not be killed off just yet.
Ned teased whether Joe would want payback against his attacker if he survives the ordeal, while he also teased whether his character would be redeemable.
He said of whether Joe will want revenge: "I’m sure he will. There will be some sort of vengeance. It’s not a nice thing to be pushed out of a window so I’m sure he’s quite miffed about that."

Of course he might be trying to throw people off the scent regarding his fate, but the comment certainly hints Joe will survive. He went on when asked if there was a future for Joe: "I’m not sure there’s too much charm and charisma you can give someone to get them to forgive you for all that. I’d like to think so."
Ned confessed Joe "asked for it" in terms of the grim attack. He said: "Somebody’s always got it in for Joe, he doesn’t have the easiest life. But then he kind of asks for it, I suppose.
"I think there’s a more tactful way to go around doing what he has to do. He’s put in quite tricky positions and you have to find a reason for motivating your character for what he’s doing."
