Apple will soon launch its brand new iPhone 17 lineup across the UK, with just days away before you can upgrade. On September 9, the global tech giant confirmed four new models that will be available in the country. The iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max, and the brand new iPhone Air will all be made available on the same date, so you won't need to wait any extra time, regardless of which phone you want to upgrade to.
The iPhone 17 will now feature 120Hz ProMotion and always-on-display, something that was previously only available on the Pro models. Meanwhile, the iPhone Air is boasted by Apple as its thinnest phone ever made and comes with just a 5.6mm body made of titanium.
While the iPhone Air does have some drawbacks, such as less battery life and only one camera, it still has the same chipset as the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max models at a slightly cheaper price point. Meanwhile, the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max are going for a drastic design change this year, with the camera module expanding across the width of the phone.

Furthermore, it's the first-time ever the phones will be made with an aluminium unibody, which Apple claims increases the sturdiness of the phone, as well as vapour chamber cooling which should theoretically improve performance under heavy use. The only drawback for some this year is that the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max will not feature a black colour: instead, it will come in either Cosmic Orange, Deep Blue, or Silver.
What day are the new iPhones coming out?Apple will make the new iPhone 17 and Air lineup available from Friday, September 19. It will also be made available at other official retailers if you prefer to shop elsewhere, although stock may be limited in the first few days following its release date.
However, if you really can't wait a few more days to secure your iPhone, they are currently available for pre-order from Apple. Read below for the current iPhone prices:
- iPhone 17 - £799
- iPhone Air - £999
- iPhone 17 Pro - £1,099
- iPhone 17 Pro Max - £1,199
If you don't want to pay the full price for the new iPhone lineup, there are a wide variety of things you can do to get a bit of a discount. For example, Apple itself accepts trade-ins, which allows you to swap your old phone for a new iPhone while getting some money taken off your purchase.
In some cases, you could get as much as £670 taken off your order depending on which phone you trade-in, which is more than half off a full priced iPhone 17 Pro Max. Otherwise, it's worth checking with your phone-carrier to see if they have an upgrade offers on, especially if your contract is due to end.
However, it is more than likely that you will pay a repeating monthly payment for the phone, rather than paying for the full phone with one upfront payment. While this can be cheaper at the start, many phone carriers will charge interest, meaning you'll pay more in the long-run than you would have by purchasing it outright.
