Liverpool's instant six-word response as Mohamed Salah misses out on Ballon d'Or speaks volumes

Liverpool had a touching message for Mohamed Salah after it was confirmed the forward had missed out on the 2025 Ballon d'Or award. The Egyptian didn't even make it into the top three with Ousmane Dembele, Lamine Yamal and Vitinha rounding off the podium positions.

It was a fourth-place finish for Liverpool's No. 11, who contributed an impressive 57 goals and assists last season as his team clinched the Premier League trophy. This is officially the highest Salah has ever ranked in the competition for the individual accolade.

The Reds announced the news across their social media platforms with an initial post, but followed up with a heartening message for Salah, should he have been disheartened by the result. The caption of the post read: "A season to savour from Salah," accompanied by a red heart emoji.

The sentiment was most striking on Instagram, where Liverpool posted a carousel of multiple memorable moments from the 33-year-old's exploits during and following the triumphant 2024/25 campaign.

The first image showed the Egyptian sitting in front of The Kop at Anfield after the final day of last season. He's wearing his Premier League winners' medal around his neck, with the league trophy, Premier League player of the season award, Golden Boot award, Playmaker award, and the FWA footballer of the year prize displayed before him.

The second photo featured Salah with his PFA player of the season award, which he received last month at a ceremony in Manchester.

The player's jubilant celebrations after clinching the Premier League trophy at Anfield, his triumphs at various awards ceremonies over the past year, and his goal celebrations from last season were all captured in a series of photos.

Conor Bradley, Hugo Ekitike, Luis Diaz, Milos Kerkez, and Ryan Gravenberch, all current and former Reds teammates, were quick to show their appreciation for the Instagram post.

Paris Saint-Germain's Dembele was named the 2025 Ballon d'Or winner.

Despite contributing to six fewer goals than his Liverpool counterpart, the Frenchman did secure a treble with the French league, French cup, and Champions League in the 2024/25 season.

Barcelona's young sensation Yamal came in second after helping his club win La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup. PSG midfielder Vitinha claimed third place for his significant contributions to his club's victories.
