Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce effectively broke the internet on Tuesday when the loved up pair announced their engagement to the world in a heartfelt Instagram post.
In the post, which went live at around 6pm, the couple shared a sweet photo of the moment Travis proposed, while also showing off the songstress’ impressive diamond sparkler alongside the caption: “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”
Yet while it may have taken the couple two years to get to this point, marriage appears to have been on Travis’ mind for quite some time, with the Kansas City Chiefs star having dropped hints about their upcoming nuptials for months before the big proposal.

In fact, eagle eyed fans think they may even have rumbled when exactly a wedding is likely to take place, thanks to some of the hints Travis dropped during conversations with his brother, Jason Kelce on the New Heights podcast.
Back in January 2025, Travis broached the subject of NFL players getting engaged, as well as many players being too busy to commit to wedding preparations between July and February every year, due to a jam packed football season.
This means that next if Travis and Taylor follow the same logic, a wedding could be on the cards in Spring or Summer 2026.
“I actually don't know people who've gotten married in the fall because all the weddings I've been to and all my friends always do it in the summer,” he told brother Jason during a January episode of 'New Heights'.
“You gotta be willing to find a weekend where the team isn't playing anybody good maybe.
“Also, if you really do have a problem with that, maybe it's in her best interest to not have it in the fall so that she knows you're invested in the anniversary every time it comes around.
“I've seen weddings in f***ing February. I've seen weddings everywhere but the fall. So I'm not sure if the fall was a good wedding season.”
Speculation around a possible engagement first started swirling among fans last year, when Taylor finished her two year long Eras tour to global acclaim on December 8, and made an appearance at a Chief’s game shortly after.
According to some fans a ring had been photoshopped out of a photo from an Eras Tour-themed party thrown by Kelce in Swift's honour, but neither Taylor nor Travis ever confirmed such a thing.

However, with an official engagement now on the books, the next subject of speculation will be when exactly the happy couple will tie the knot.
With the Super Bowl due to take place on February 8, and with Taylor already hinted to be the star halftime performer, it seems unlikely that the couple will have time to plan and orchestrate a wedding before the highlight of the NFL calendar.
Yet if Travis retires in 2026, as is heavily speculated he might (particularly if the KCC can secure their fourth Super Bowl victory in seven years) a Summer wedding could line up well for the couple as they strive to build a life together.
