Covid Alert: The number of women in corona cases in India has been seen to be very high. If this data is to be believed, then women should take more care of their health. Let us tell you that among the patients found in Ghaziabad, four women were also reported to be affected. At the same time, women were also found corona positive in Gurugram. This time 4 new variants of corona have been confirmed. These are considered to be sub-variants of the Omicron variant. Can these variants really be more dangerous for women? Let's know from the doctor.

What do the experts say?

In a special conversation with News-24, Dr. Anuj Kumar, MDS and MPH, Maxillofacial Surgeon and Public Health Expert of Jharkhand, tells that this time the new variants of corona are affecting women but no scientific evidence of this has been found yet. However, women can be affected in cases of long covid. Especially women who are above 40 years of age may have a higher risk of corona infection than others.

New variants of Covid-19 have a greater impact on women

Dr Shreya Srivastava, Senior Consultant, Department of Internal Medicine, Sharda Hospital, explains that the effect of the new variant of Covid-19 may be higher in women due to hormonal and immune system differences. Some studies have found that women have a higher inflammatory response than men, which may increase the risk of severe symptoms. However, this is still a subject of research and more studies are needed.

Different symptoms of the new variant

In addition to the common symptoms in women, such as sore throat, fever, fatigue, and runny nose, psychiatric symptoms have also been observed with all variants, including JN.1. Symptoms such as insomnia and anxiety have been reported, which are more common in women. This shows the diversity of symptoms.

Special precautions for women

Dr. Anuj Kumar explains that women should wear masks, follow social distancing, maintain hand hygiene and take your vaccine and booster dose if you can, to protect themselves from COVID-19. Pregnant women should especially take more precautions to protect themselves from COVID-19, such as avoiding crowded places and regular checkups.

Important advice for pregnant and lactating women

COVID-19 infection in pregnant women may increase the risk of serious outcomes, such as premature delivery and need for hospitalization. WHO and CDC recommend vaccination against COVID-19 for pregnant women, as it may reduce the risk of severe disease.

Follow the methods to increase immunity

Dr. Anuj says that women should follow measures to strengthen their immunity at this time such as eating a balanced diet. Drink the right amount of water and eat foods rich in Vitamin-C and D. Get adequate sleep and can do yoga and meditation to reduce stress.

If you have had Covid before, what is the risk of getting infected with the new variant?

If a woman has previously had a COVID-19 infection, she remains at risk of reinfection due to the new variant. According to the doctor, vaccination and taking a booster dose can reduce the risk of reinfection, so it is important that women get vaccinated regularly.
