Sai Sudarshan Shuts Down Ben Duckett After Heated Clash, Ends Debut Series with 140 Runs Against England

Send Push

Another fiery moment lit up the India vs England Test series—this time between Sai Sudarshan and Ben Duckett, the same English player who earlier had a verbal spat with Shubman Gill at Lord’s. On Day 2 of the Oval Test, Sudarshan and Duckett exchanged heated words, and the tension didn’t go unnoticed.

Duckett clashes again—this time with Sudarshan

The confrontation happened when Sai Sudarshan was walking back to the pavilion after being dismissed LBW by Gus Atkinson in the 18th over of India’s second innings. Sudarshan reviewed the decision, but the DRS upheld the on-field call. As he was heading back, Duckett reportedly said something that triggered Sudarshan, prompting him to stop and snap back at the English opener.

While the exact words exchanged weren’t audible, visuals showed Sai visibly agitated, refusing to ignore Duckett’s comment and confronting him in return.

Not the first time Duckett sparked controversy

Duckett earlier clashed with Shubman Gill during the Lord’s Test, allegedly trying to slow down the game with his opening partner Zak Crawley. The tension between players seems to have carried over into this final match of the series.

Sai Sudarshan’s performance: Quiet, but promising

While the altercation drew attention, Sudarshan let his bat do the talking over the course of his debut Test series:

  • Matches: 3 Tests

  • Innings: 6

  • Runs scored: 140

  • Fours: 18

  • Average: 23.33

  • Best score: 61

In the Oval Test innings where the clash occurred, Sudarshan managed just 11 runs, but his composure and resilience throughout the series stood out.
