Indian Airlines Set to Operate Over 25,000 Weekly Flights in Winter Schedule

Indian airlines are gearing up to operate 25,007 weekly flights during the upcoming winter schedule, set to begin on October 27, 2024. This marks a 3% increase compared to the 24,275 weekly departures in the current summer schedule, according to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

The winter schedule, which runs until March 29, 2025, reflects a 5.37% rise in flights compared to the same period last year. Flights will connect 124 airports across the country, with Pondicherry airport being newly added. However, operations from Pakyong and Tezpur airports have been suspended for this season.

India's leading airline, IndiGo, will operate the largest share of flights, with 13,691 weekly departures. Other major carriers include AirAsia India and Air India Express, which will handle 2,832 flights combined.

The increase in flights is expected to boost domestic air traffic during the winter months as the DGCA finalizes the schedule following a slot conference held in September 2024.
