The Social Welfare Department of the Government of Uttar Pradesh has invited applications for pre- and post-matric scholarships for the academic year 2024-25. Interested and eligible students can apply till 31 December in this process, which started in July. All the students who want to take advantage of this scheme can apply online by visiting the official website of the Government of Uttar Pradesh, scholarship.up.gov.in. The special thing is that students studying in Sanskrit schools of the state can also apply for this scheme.

What are the eligibility rules?

Under this scheme, some rules have been set for pre-matric and post-matric scholarships.

General and OBC category students, whose family income is less than Rs 2 lakh, can apply. For Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) students, the family income limit is Rs 2.5 lakh. Students must have passed their final examination to apply. Also, it is mandatory to have a valid caste certificate and Aadhaar card at the time of application.

When and how to apply for scholarship?

Last date for registration: 20 December 2024 Last date for online application: 31 December 2024 Students can take a printout of their application till 16 January 2025. Data locking: This process will be completed by the district committees between 31 December and 5 March 2025. Student validation: Validation of students' data will be done on PFMS (Public Financial Management System) from 26 November 2024 to 24 February 2025.

Special information for minority students

The process of applying for scholarship is slightly different for minority communities such as Muslim, Sikh, Christian, Buddhist, Jain and Parsi students. They will have to apply on the website of the Minority Welfare Department instead of the Social Welfare Department. The limit of family income for minority students has also been kept up to Rs 2 lakh.

Important points to keep in mind:

While applying, keep all the documents, like the caste certificate, Aadhar card, and income certificate, ready. Apply on time so that there is no problem. Keep checking the status of the application from time to time and complete the application process before the last date.

This scholarship scheme is a golden opportunity for those students who are not able to continue their education due to financial constraints. This initiative of the state government will help them in shaping their future.
