What is digital dementia?
Digital dementia is a type of brain disorder in which a person's memory starts to weaken, decision-making ability decreases and his personality also starts to change. Dementia patients also start having difficulty in everyday tasks, such as forgetting small things or not being able to take decisions.
What causes digital dementia?
The main cause of digital dementia is the excessive use of smartphones and other digital devices. When we use mobile, computer or laptop for a very long time, our brain becomes less active. In this situation, the coordination between the brain and the body becomes weak. If you use a phone, laptop or tablet for more than 4 hours a day, then you may be at risk of getting digital dementia. This problem is being seen equally in both children and adults.
Symptoms of Digital Dementia
Loss of memory: The person starts forgetting small things. Difficulty in remembering words: There is difficulty in remembering a word or thing. Problem in multitasking: There is difficulty in doing many tasks simultaneously. Lack of focus: There is difficulty in concentrating on small or big tasks. Obstacle in mental development in children: Due to excessive screen time, the mental and physical development of children is obstructed.
Ways to prevent digital dementia
Stay away from screens: Avoid touching your phone or any other digital device for some time before going to sleep and after waking up in the morning. Play brain games: Play games like Sudoku, chess or mental maths, which will keep your mind active. Set time limits: Limit the time you spend on your phone. There are many apps that alert you if you are using your phone too much. Use pen and paper: Use pen and paper to write grocery lists, phone numbers etc. so that you are not dependent on your phone for everything. Get enough sleep: Avoid binge watching and get enough sleep. Plan to watch movies on holidays, but do not compromise on sleep.
