BBC fans left 'frustrated' over same thing as Millie Gibson makes Doctor Who return

Some BBC viewers are claiming the latest episode of is an "incredibly frustrating" watch as . The 20-year-old actress, who starred as the main companion to 's Doctor last season, appeared in 'Lucky Days', portraying the love interest of podcaster and antagonist Conrad Clark (played by Jonah Hauer-King).

The latest instalment of Doctor Who aired on BBC One on Saturday (May 3), opening with the Fifteenth Doctor and (Varada Sethu) landing in 2007 England. There, they meet a younger version of Conrad, who grew up to become obsessed with the Doctor and his TARDIS.

After years of hoping to meet the Time Lord again, Conrad stumbles upon the blue telephone box in 2024 and photographs Ruby Sunday (Millie) beside it. Fast forward a year, and Ruby gets in contact with Conrad.

He invites her onto his podcast, and the pair begin dating. While Ruby believes their relationship is real, Conrad only began a relationship with her so that he could use her to expose UNIT (an international military organisation) for spreading lies about aliens, monsters, and wasting taxpayers money.

At one point, Conrad holds Ruby at gunpoint to try and get her to admit his conspiracy theory is true. Eventually, the antagonist is reprimanded, with the Doctor swooping in to give him a talking to for the way he treated Ruby. 'Lucky Day' has been praised by fans, with one writing: "Lucky Day is by far one of the best Dr Who episodes."

A second wrote on X: "Lucky Day was decent - loved seeing Ruby back and that twist with Conrad threw me off I was not expecting that. Kate Stewart showed Conrad that she's her father's daughter and not to mess with her legacy. The scene with Conrad & the Doctor was so good."

However, one Reddit user has admitted the Peter Hoar-directed episode left them "frustrated". They typed: "This episode made me so upset, it was so incredibly frustrating to watch his smug face -- brilliant work."

Another said: "You thought the Midnight Entity was going to be the most terrifying villain this season? Nope, it's a human on social media."
