A fire raged across an industrial estate in east London overnight. 25 fire engines and around 150 firefighters were deployed to tackle the fire, where a warehouse was alight along with several vehicles, London Fire Brigade reported.
The fire broke out at around 10:47pm on Friday evening at an industrial estate on Maypole Crescent in Erith, southeast London. According to the emergency services, a warehouse three diggers and numerous other vehicles were on fire, with residents urged to shut their windows and doors despite sweltering heatwave temperatures overnight. The industrial estate is home to around 20 businesses, including garages, repair shops and recycling centres. The fire was under control by 6:52am, but firefighters remain on scene and locals are advised to avoid the area as the estate and nearby roads are closed.
