Have you ever had the urge to enjoy a really nice glass of wine... but just haven't been able to pluck up the courage to shell out £60 or £70 a bottle for the pleasure? I know I have. Well, if that is the case, look no further than a rather clever British start-up, Tiny Wine, which wants to revolutionise how we enjoy a white or red. Instead of committing to a full bottle, Tiny Wines lets you explore world-class offerings one glass at a time out of the firm's 100ml "tasting tubes" thanks to the very latest fractionalisation technology.
Founded by two friends, industry veteran Harry Crowther and wine enthusiast and entrepreneur Rob Ingram, the former explains that the business was born "from a simple belief: that fine wine should be more accessible, less intimidating, and a lot more fun". The brand's tasting boxes, starting at £30, feature curated selections from iconic producers and rising stars, sourced from around the world.
Each pour, just under the size of a standard small glass, is preserved in a sample bottle using Coravin Vinitas technology - a groundbreaking fractionalisation system already common in UK restaurants and pubs - thus ensuring wines arrive fresh and true-to-bottle.
As Harry explains: "Each Tiny Wine experience comes with detailed tasting notes, and QR codes to learn more - creating an experience that's educational, enjoyable, and never stuffy. Whether for gifting, learning, or simply enjoying a great glass midweek, Tiny Wine brings a new level of flexibility and joy to wine drinking."
The brand is also turning heads in the trade. Through its Tiny Wine Trade arm, it's helping importers and producers reduce sampling waste by replacing full-bottle samples with 100ml tubes - cutting both costs and carbon footprints. Each set features six different wines, curated typically by region. I was lucky enough to try their Tuscan vintages, but the Tiny Wines website also boasts some incredible Bordeaux vintages. The Bordeaux Somm gift set, priced £399.99, includes for instance a 1990 Château Margaux that probably wouldn't leave much change from a grand if you were buying a bottle at retail prices.

Harry adds: "The Tiny Wine team is now scaling its operations, expanding its tasting range, and raising seed investment to build its subscriber base. "With a growing audience of curious wine lovers and a product designed for modern living, Tiny Wine is positioning itself as the UK's go-to platform for premium wine discovery, education, and gifting."
Try them out - they currently have a corking buy three, get three free offer for £30. And a tasting box would make a nice Father's Day gift!
