M6 traffic LIVE: Major UK motorway closed after overturned lorry catches fire

The M6 is closed northbound this morning after a lorry overturned and caught fire. Pictures showed heavy traffic and long queues on the major motorway in Cumbria.

The northbound road is closed between J36 Crooklands Interchange (South Lakes, Kendal, Barrow, Kirkby Lonsdale, Skipton) and J39 Shap Interchange (Shap). Lane three southbound is also closed between J38 and J37.

Cumbria Fire & Rescue, Cumbria Police, National Highways Traffic Officers and contractors are on scene. There is a diversion in place.
