United are said to be over Amorim's start date at Old Trafford as he has a notice period of a few weeks.

And Red Devils chiefs will be desperate to get him to Manchester as soon as they can in the hope he can oversee a dramatic upturn in fortunes.

United have won just three times in the Premier League this season and have drawn all three of their matches in the Europa League. The team are already 12 points adrift of top-flight leaders Manchester City in England and are six points off top-of-the-table Lazio in Europe.
