Amazon Prime users are in for a shock as they have mere weeks left to binge-watch "one of the greatest shows ever" before it's gone. The Originals is set to depart from the streaming giant shortly, much to the dismay of its ardent admirers who consider it nothing short of a "masterpiece". Debuting on The CW in 2013, the series is an offshoot of the much-loved The Vampire Diaries, which followed the love triangle involving Nina Dobrev's character Elena Gilbert, and the vampire brothers Stefan (played by Paul Wesley) and Damon Salvatore (portrayed by Ian Somerhalder).
The Originals picks up the thread following these events and chronicles the tale of Klaus Mikaelson-a vampire-werewolf hybrid-and his kin as they navigate the precarious supernatural dynamics of New Orleans. With Joseph Morgan leading as Klaus, alongside Daniel Gillies as brother Elijah and Claire Holt as sister Rebekah, the trio - who were the first original vampires - face off against an array of foes including their own kind, werewolves, witches, and multitudes of other threats.

Having lived up to the expectations of The Vampire Diaries, fans have been singing the praises of The Originals up until its final episode in 2018, when the ending left several in tears after two characters were killed off.
The show enjoyed acclaim, snagging multiple nominations at the Teen Choice and People's Choice Awards, and saw Joseph scoop up the prize for favourite actor in a new series in 2014.
A devoted fan expressed: "Just recently I re-watched TVD and finally decided to go ahead with The Originals and oh boy.. I simply simply loved this show! Loved the entire cast! I don't remember crying so much as I did for this towards the end."
One enthusiastic viewer raved: "I'm not one to write reviews on anything I watch, in fact this is the first time I'm writing but mann, for what I believe is, one of the BEST shows ever, I feel obliged to write down how amazing it is, to make its existence known to people."
Another fan, compelled to share their thoughts, wrote: "I have never ever given any review for any show but I had to give for this one. One of the best shows I have ever watched. It's an emotional rollercoaster ride and you will love this show."
A fourth fan echoed the sentiment, saying: "The Originals still remains the greatest show I have ever watched."
Meanwhile, another viewer heaped praise on the show, stating: "Best American TV show ever...usually American shows failed to portray the emotion with required amount of intensity...BUT this is a MASTERPIECE."
Regarding the dramatic conclusion, showrunner Julie Plec explained the thought process behind the finale's tragic events: "We had some other pretty devastating deaths over the course of the season and that, specifically to this season, was born out of our villain, which was a villain rooted in an ideology and intolerance and hate."
She further elaborated: "And we felt, as writers, to make the biggest statement about how devastating the consequences of that can of ideology can be, we really needed to have some shocking and deeply emotional victims of that enemy."
