The Thursday Murder Club is coming to cinemas soon, as well as Netflix, with creator Richard Osman, who is married to Ingrid Oliver, offering fans an exciting update.
Following the plot of Osman's first book, published in 2020, The Thursday Murder Club, which has a trailer, follows a group of elderly amateur sleuths who attempt to solve a murder.
Filming began in 2024, with Steven Spielberg as producer, and Osman has been keeping fans up to date with the latest developments.
On Instagram, he shared the news that fans would be able to see the film in cinemas as well as on the small screen, following concerns some of its fanbase would not be able to access it.
He said: "Some very good news for everyone who wanted to see #TheThursdayMurderClub in UK cinemas. Netflix have listened to the clamour, and the film will now have a run in UK cinemas." Here is all you need to know about the release date, cast and more.
When is The Thursday Murder Club out?For those waiting to see the film at the cinema, an update was shared in June 2025 saying it would be shown a week ahead of its Netflix release.
The Thursday Murder Club will be released in cinemas across the UK August 22.
The film will then be available to watch on Netflix from August 28, and it has a run time of almost two hours.
Who is in the cast of the Thursday Murder Club? The main four characters, Elizabeth Best, Ron Ritchie, Ibrahim Arif and Joyce Meadowcroft, will be played by Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, Ben Kingsley and Celia Imrie.
Osman recently defended the controversial casting of Ron, telling Empire: "You have to do something unusual and different and interesting.
"Here's the key thing about Pierce Brosnan playing Ron: Pierce Brosnan is who Ron would choose to play Ron."
Doctor Who star David Tennant has also been cast as Ian Ventham, with Jonathan Pryce as Elizabeth's husband Stephen.
Naomi Ackie will play PC Donna De Freitas, with Daniel Mays as DCI Chris Hudson and Henry Lloyd-Hughes as Bogdan.

When a murder takes place close by, Joyce is keen for the team to step up and solve a new mystery.
Fans took to the comments to express their excitement, with one sharing: "The perfect cast, I am sooooo looking forward to seeing this film, love all the books, get ready to snuggle in and be totally enthralled."
