Yvette Cooper debate leaves Laura Kuenssberg viewers furious as they have same complaint

sparked backlash with viewers as she brought Home Secretary onto the show to discuss the latest issues in the UK. But as the interview went on, viewers became frustrated as whilst Laura asked Cooper about immigration and her plans to address the rising numbers, she didn't go into depth about illegal immigration.

She admitted that they were "running short on time", but asked Cooper to elaborate on whether foreign nationals who commit a crime in the UK would be deported, as Cooper admitted that if an offender isn't given a custodial sentence, the Home Office isn't notified, but they would be bringing in new procedures to get more information about offences so they could revoke visas.

The Home Secretary added "that is our intention" as Kuenssberg pressed her on whether that was a promise, as she continued: "We're already doing it, but some of these procedures are going to take time."

Cooper added: "I just believe if you come to the UK you have to abide by laws, that is part of respect for the rules, and ensuring those rules are respected and enforced.

One viewer said: "Not one single question about ILLEGAL immigration, #BBCLauraK ? Lets concentrate on those who shouldn't be here, sure, but Cooper's entire policy seems to be to target the legal ones and get them down. Weirdo."

Another added: "The correct question is there is immigration and illegal immigration! You need to be specific in your questions! Some immigration is fine, but, illegal immigration is terrible."

A third chimed in: "Will @bbclaurak be asking @YvetteCooperMP how she plans to reduce illegal crossings as hers and @Keir_Starmer plan to stop the boats isn't working. They have had enough time and it's actually costing more, the only gainers is @EmmanuelMacron's France."

A fourth asked: "Any reason why you didn't address illegal immigration? Not to the BBC's taste?"

A fifth raged: "Badgering the Tory minister about illegal migration after barely mentioning it to Cooper who she gave a free ride, BBC Labour bias at it's best!!"
