Next time you pull up to recharge your battery or are waiting patiently for the kids to finish their endless weekly clubs you could find an entertaining update added to your car. The German car firm has just announced the launch of the Paramount+ streaming service which will be available via the infotainment screen for the very first time.
This Netflix-style platform offers access to hundreds of shows and movies which can all be watched on the display that's tucked inside the dashboard.
Once activated, things such as Star Trek, Mission Impossible, Tulsa King, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Halo can be binged on from the comfort of your car along with live sports and breaking news.
"The BMW Group is bringing the popular streaming service Paramount+ to its cars, allowing subscribers to access a wide choice of blockbusters, new originals and hit shows such as Star Trek Discovery," BMW explained.
Sound enticing? BMW says subscribers will be able to tune into Paramount+ via the Video App in the newest infotainment systems of both the latest BMW and MINI vehicles with Operating System 9.
Paramount+ plans start from £6.99 and you'll need to be a member to gain access to this update.
Of course, it also won't work whilst driving. Instead, it becomes active the minute you park up.
BMW says that Paramount+ is now available in conjunction with BMW Digital Premium or the MINI Connected Package and launches in Austria, France, Germany, Italy, UK, USA, and Switzerland.
Paramount+ is now the latest addition to BMW's entertainment. The firm already offers its Air Console service which lets owners play a range of titles such as racing, sports, quizzes as well as simulation, strategy, jump-and-run and puzzle games on the main display.
A simple QR code system even makes it easy to connect with multiple players and around 20 games are available right now such as Go Kart, Golazo, Music Guess and Overcooked - more are expected to arrive in the future.
There's even the option to use your smartphone or gaming controller to interact with what's playing the screen.
