EA Sports FC 26 has been officially unveiled with a brand new gameplay trailer by the developer.

The upcoming football sim has been given a September 26 release date on PS5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch.

In even more good news, EA FC 26 will also be available for the newly released Nintendo Switch 2 on the same day. Hopefully the Switch 2 version will be fully on par with the PS5 and Xbox Series X releases.

As you can see from the trailer below, the new EA Sports FC game has been developed with help from the "community".

The developer has taken on board the criticism aimed at EA FC 25 and used it to make what will hopefully be a vastly improved game.

One of the more interesting changes is the split between faster-paced gameplay and simulation-style action.

This comes in the form of Authentic and Competitive gameplay presets that alter the type of experience players can expect.

The new Competitive gameplay preset, for example, is said to be driven by "refined fundamentals, added consistency, and enhanced responsiveness". Essentially this results in a faster-style of game that is made for Ultimate Team and Clubs.

The Authentic gameplay preset, on the other hand, delivers a slower and more realistic football experience that will be used in Career.

Needless to say, Electronic Arts has also made improvements to things like dribbling, tackling and goalkeeping.

As you can see from the trailer above, tackles will result in fewer "bounce backs", which should result in more consistent outcomes.

Dribbling is said to be more fluid, and goalkeepers will have better control on where they push the ball. The latter hopefully means fewer deflected goals.

Fans can also expect more tricks, the addition of off-the-ball shielding, low power shots and lots more.

The game also has a new Archetypes feature. EA explains more: "A brand-new feature to FC 26, Archetypes has been inspired by the greats of the game, introducing new classes to Clubs and Player Career, bringing more individuality to players.

"Develop your abilities by upgrading attributes and unlocking Archetype Perks to give your player a distinct feel on the pitch."

As previously announced, Zlatan Ibrahimovic is the cover star of the Ultimate Edition, while Jude Bellingham and Jamal Musiala are on the standard edition cover.
