We're in the midst of the and caught my eye. The reason I think this is a great deal is because it takes a phone that launched just 6 months ago and brings it down to the lowest price that I've seen.
You can now get the , taking £100 off the asking price. Eyecatching, not only because of the 20% discount, but because it's is a phone that's easy to recommend.
Don't just take my word for it - Henry Burrell, Deputy Technology Editor here at the Express, agrees, saying "it's the easiest phone in the world to recommend" in his .
Each year, Google launches its flagship phones and then 6 months later will follow-up with an "a" model. It makes a couple of compromises to make it more affordable than the flagship phones, but it's powered by the same hardware, offers pretty much the same set of features and it backed by a massive 7-years of updates.
The then offers an experience that's pretty much the same as the Pixel 8, but for less money. Yes, the display is a little smaller and the bezels are a little wider, but it still offers plenty of brightness for a really vibrant HDR effect in your photos.
It has the same processor - so it's just as fast and powerful as the flagship - but the camera is a little different. The sensors are a little older, but you get all of Google's AI that boosts your images to get great results. There's no doubt that this is one of the best camera phones in this price bracket.
The software experience is the same, with Google promising 7 years of software updates. Better still, you'll be at the front of the queue for those updates, beating the likes or Samsung when a new version of Android appears.
I've used the Pixel 8a for some months and there's very little to complain about - it's a great phone when it's full price and the discount just makes it sweeter.
It's worth noting, however, that you might be able to beat that price with a trade-in . Google will offer up to £285 off the price of a new Pixel 8a depending on what you trade in, so you could pay as little as £214. The highest value phones is the Pixel 7 Pro with the iPhone 12 Pro Max up there too - but I can't help feeling that it's unlikely you have a spare flagship device lying around (if you do, you might as well keep using it).
Elsewhere, offers Google fans the Pixel 8a for £16 per month - for the handset only - it's sale has dropped £2 off the monthly price so you'd be across the full contract.
are only running for two days in October, throwing up a full range of deals on the latest tech - but you'll have to move fast as many of the deals will end on 9 October.
