The Chhattisgarh government has announced a 4 per cent increase in dearness allowance (DA) for state government employees. Following the announcement, the dearness allowance of employees reached 50 per cent of the basic salary. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai made the announcement today.

What CM Said?This decision will benefit approximately 3.9 lakh state employees, ensuring their DA now aligns with that of central government employees. "With Diwali approaching, we have decided to raise the DA by 4 per cent, providing some financial relief to employees just in time for the festival," said CM Sai. Previous DA HikeThe state government had previously raised the DA by 4 per cent in March 2024, bringing it to 46 per cent of the basic pay. Now, with this additional increase, the DA stands at 50 per cent. Cabinet MeetingThe announcement was made before a state cabinet meeting, where discussions on purchasing paddy and maize, the upcoming Rajyotsav celebrations, and the state's anti-Naxal policy were scheduled. Officials hinted that the government may soon declare the dates for paddy procurement. Meeting With PM Modi And Anti-Naxal OperationsEarlier, CM Sai met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi to update him on Chhattisgarh's development over the last nine months. The CM highlighted several ongoing projects in agriculture, skill development, and education.He also briefed PM Modi on a recent anti-Naxal operation, which resulted in the elimination of 31 Naxalites in the Narayanpur-Dantewada district—the largest such operation in the state's history. PM Modi appreciated the bravery of the security forces and congratulated them on their success.During the meeting, CM Sai also expressed his gratitude for the Centre’s approval to build eight lakh houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. What State Employees Said On DA Hike?State employees have expressed their joy over the government’s decision. A spokesperson from the Employee Federation said, "This decision has doubled our happiness for Diwali. We had been waiting for this for a long time, and it will allow us to celebrate the festival in a better way."
