Mike Flanagan, Stephen King To Reunite For Carrie Remake Series; Here's What We Know So Far

The latest Stephen King adaptation to hit screens is Amazon Prime Video's Carrie. The streamer has joined hands with horror maestro Mike Flanagan to helm this eight-episode series. This isn't the first time that Flanagan has adapted King's work. His latest feature film, The Life of Chuck, with Tom Hiddleston, is based on the author's 2020 novella. Mike Flanagan leads Carrie web seriesAccording to a report in Deadline, Flanagan will be the showrunner on the web series. The filmmaker is also an executive producer on the project. The series is quickly moving into the script stage, and viewers can likely expect actors from previous Flanagan projects like The Haunting of Hill House, The Haunting of Bly Manor, Midnight Mass, and The Fall of the House of Usher to be in the running for roles.The 1974 horror novel Carrie by King is a cult classic, as is the 1976 film that followed by Brian De Palma. Sissy Spacek starred as the title character, a young teenage girl who is bullied by her high school classmates and discovers her telekinetic powers. The first film also featured John Travolta, Piper Laurie, Amy Irving, Nancy Allen, Betty Buckley, and William Katt. A TV film was revived in 2002, while another 2013 reboot featured Chloe Grace Moretz as Carrie with Julianne Moore playing the role of her religious mother, Margaret. Mike Flanagan's upcoming projects The Life of Chuck won the People’s Choice Award at the Toronto International Film Festival last month, automatically making it a frontrunner for an Oscar. The Doctor Sleep director is also helming a remake of The Exorcist, which will be released in theatres on March 13, 2026.
