The preparations for IPL 2025 are in full swing and the franchises are busy inking on the players they want to retain. They have until October 31 to submit the list to the BCCI. Delhi Capitals (DC) will be one of the franchises who might not have to ponder much about retentions as there are few automatic picks in their team.A couple of weeks before the franchises submit their list to the BCCI, PTI has reported that DC are likely to retain Rishabh Pant, Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav as their first, second and third-choice retentions, respectively.Rishabh will earn Rs 18 crore while Axar will earn Rs 14 crore. Kuldeep is likely to be retained for Rs 11 crore. Rishabh has been with DC since his IPL debut in 2016 and looks set to continue as the captain. Even though he hinted at leaving DC with a late-night post on X recently, it seemed more of a social media trick to gain engagement. No Prithvi Shaw in retention listPrithvi Shaw's name doesn't feature in DC's likely retention list and he could get released by the franchise. The former India U-19 World Cup-winning captain has been with DC since his IPL debut in 2018. The franchise backed him and retained the opening batsman before the IPL 2022 mega-auction.But Shaw's performance in IPL hasn't improved much. He managed 106 runs in 8 matches in IPL 2023 and scored 198 runs in 8 matches in IPL 2024.Right to Match card for two overseas players? The report in PTI adds that DC could use their Right to Match (RTM) card on Jake Fraser-McGurk and Tristan Stubbs. McGurk was DC's star performer in IPL 2024 and he replaced David Warner in the playing XI. Batting with a strike rate of 234.04, McGurk slammed 330 runs in 9 matches in the season.
