'Plant4Mother': What Did EAM Jaishankar Do On His Day 2 In Pakistan?

Islamabad: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Tuesday landed in Islamabad to attend a conclave of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), in the first visit to Pakistan by a senior Indian minister in years.Jaishankar was greeted at the Nur Khan airbase by senior Pakistani officials. It is the first time in nearly nine years that India’s foreign minister travelled to Pakistan even as the ties between the two neighbours remained frosty over the Kashmir issue and cross-border terrorism emanating from Pakistan. The last Indian Foreign Minister to visit Pakistan was Sushma Swaraj. She had travelled to Islamabad in December 2015 to attend a conference on Afghanistan.Taking to X, EAM Jaishankar shared a photograph and wrote, "A morning walk together with colleagues of Team @IndiainPakistan in our High Commission campus."

Sharing another moment from Pakistan, Jaishankar wrote, "An Arjuna sapling at @IndiainPakistan premises is another commitment to #Plant4Mother #एक_पेड़_माँ_के_नाम." On June 5, PM Modi launched 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' Campaign on the occasion of World Environment Day. PM Modi planted a Peepal tree at Buddha Jayanti Park in Delhi. He also urged all to contribute in making our planet better and informed that in the last decade, India has undertaken numerous collective efforts which have led to increased forest cover across the nation. This is great for our quest towards sustainable development, Shri Modi added further.The Prime Minister posted a thread on X; “Today, on World Environment Day, delight to start a campaign, #एक_पेड़_माँ_के_नाम. I call upon everyone, in India and around the world, to plant a tree in the coming days as a tribute to your mother. Do share a picture of you doing so using #Plant4Mother”Pakistan is hosting the two-day SCO Council of Heads of Government (CHG) summit on October 15 and 16.
