Quick Action on 8 Security Threats at Delhi's IGI Airport in October, Each of Them were Hoaxes

New Delhi: The Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport investigated eight security-related incidents in the month of October, which also included reported bomb threats. A recent bomb threat in Akasa Air flight is also one of them. However, all the cases were found out to be only hoaxes. The fake bomb threats have become a serious concerns as this causes panic among flyers while delaying and diverting scheduled flights. Responding to which, Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kin has addressed the matter, and convened a high-level meeting to prevent such incidents from happening in future. The union minister added that legal actions have been taken against those who had been spreading the fake news of flights from various airlines containing bombs. In addition to that, all those social media accounts responsible for spreading these false threats have been suspended to prevent further misuse and ensure public safety.

"I am deeply concerned over the recent disruptive acts targeting Indian airlines, affecting the domestic and international operations. Such mischievous and unlawful actions are a matter of grave concern, and I strongly condemn any attempts to compromise the safety, security, and operational integrity of our aviation sector. In response, I had chaired a high-level committee on 14th October, comprising officials from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), the Ministry of Home Affairs, and the Ministry of Civil Aviation," read the first statement of the union minister on the hoax bomb threat issue.

Delhi-Bengaluru Akasa Flight Bomb Threat Earlier in the day, an Akasa Airline's flight QP1335, travelling from Delhi to Bengaluru with 184 passengers on board, was forced to make an emergency landing after a bomb threat. The flight, which had already departed from Delhi, was redirected back to IGI Airport. The emergency was declared at approximately 1:15 PM, and the aircraft safely returned to Delhi shortly after. In regards of which, an FIR has been registered under sections 217 and 351(4) of the BNS, as well as section 3(1)(d) of The Suppression of Unlawful Acts Against Safety of Civil Aviation Act, 1982," said DGP, IGI Airport. Mumbai Airport Bomb Threat In his official statement, the minister added that a minor had been detained in connection with a series of bomb threats at Mumbai Airport. Times Now have learnt that the minor was sent to the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) by the Mumbai Police later. Prima facie, the kid allegedly sent the hoax threats using profile picture of another individual over a financial dispute between the two.
