It was a dream come true moment for Pakistan batter Kamran Ghulam as he joined the elite list of Pakistan batters to score a hundred on Test debut. Kamran replaced Babar Azam who was dropped from the Test squad following a consistent lean run. Along with Babar, Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah were also left out of the Pakistan squad. The move to drop Babar and senior players got mixed reactions. Former England cricketer Michael Vaughan was particularly upset with Pakistan dropping Babar Azam and called the decision stupid.

Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali lauded Kamran Ghulam for his stunning hundred on debut and also responded to Michael Vaughan's remark. "The best thing about the knock was that he (Ghulam) came out to bat when the score was 19/2. They were saying before the match that it was wrong to rest Babar, sponsors won't come. Show Ghulam's picture to Michael Vaughan and tell him he is there," said Ali on his YouTube channel.Basit Ali said that PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi said there is no replacement available for players like Babar Azam but the selectors introduced a new kid and he proved them wrong. Ali cited a quote from Rohit Sharma to draw attention towards the importance of domestic cricket."PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi will be very happy today. He had given a statement that 'there is no replacement at the moment'. But (selectors) Aaqib Javed & co introduced a new kid and he made a century on debut. The bold decision taken by the selectors can lead to betterment (of Pakistan cricket). Like Rohit Sharma had said there (in India), give domestic cricket it's due," he added Meanwhile, Kamran Ghulam was rewarded for a stunning run in domestic cricket which saw him score over 4000 runs at an average of nearly 50. His 118 clubbed with Saim Ayub's 77 helped Pakistan cross the 300-run mark in the first Test.
