Lucknow: A 15-year-old juvenile was apprehended allegedly for attempting to sexually assault two minor girls aged eight and nine after luring them into his house with chocolates and toys.
According to police, the two young girls were playing in their neighbourhood on Saturday noon. The accused, who is also a minor, approached the girls and convinced them to come to his house by promising them chocolates and toys. Once inside, he allegedly attempted to sexually assault them.
One of the girls managed to escape from the boy's clutches and informed her family about the incident. One of the girls' mother subsequently filed complaint with local police station.
Additional deputy commissioner of police, North Zone, Jitendra Kumar Dubey confirmed that a case was registered based on the complaint filed by one girl's mother. "We initiated an investigation into the matter and appropriate action will be taken as per juvenile justice laws," stated ADCP Dubey.
The accused was apprehended and will be produced before the Juvenile Justice Board. Authorities are also providing necessary counselling and support to victims and their families.
