'Proud of my father': Son bids tearful farewell to BSF officer killed in action during cross-border shelling

NEW DELHI: Several leaders and family members, including RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, as well as minister Shravan Kumar, paid tribute to martyred BSF sub-inspector Mohammed Imteyaz on Monday.

Mohammed lost his life in the line of duty due to cross-border shelling from Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir’s RS Pura sector on May 10.

Imran, the son of the martyred BSF officer, said his father was a very strong person and that he is extremely proud of him. He recalled speaking to his father at 5:30am on May 10, shortly after he had sustained injuries to his right leg in a drone attack. Imran urged the government to deliver a strong response so that no other son has to endure the pain of losing his father in such a manner.

His son Imran says, "My father was very strong person. I am very proud of my father . I spoke to him at 5:30 am on May 10. He had suffered injuries in his right leg in drone attack. It was the last time I spoke with him. The government should give such a befitting reply that no son loses his father ever."

"We express our sympathy with the family. We all are proud of him (BSF sub-inspector) Mohammed Imtiaz) that he made the supreme sacrifice for the country. We can sleep in peace only because of the brave Army guarding our borders. We all should be proud of the way our armed forces gave a befitting reply to Pakistan," said RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav.

"We are proud that our Bihar's son, our brave armed forces, took revenge for the families of Pahalgam attack. We are proud of the sacrifice of such brave officers. Whole country, central govt and PM Modi are with his family, " said minister Shravan Kumar.
