Indore: Six persons were arrested for allegedly operating an online betting racket during the IPL cricket match in Indore.
Acting on specific intelligence, the police searched a flat located in Khatiwala Tank area. The accused were caught accepting bets on IPL match on Wednesday using laptops and mobile phones. Ajay Yadav (24), Raviraj Chauhan (20), Lokendra Yadav (20), Shakti Raj Tomar (22), Lucky Singh Chauhan (25), and Prem Sagar (20) were arrested. All the accused are from different districts of MP and Rajasthan, and were residing at the same flat in Indore.
Juni Indore police station in-charge Anil Gupta said that the operation led to the seizure of five laptops, 17 mobile phones and detailed records of transactions estimated between Rs 5 lakh and Rs 6 lakh.
According to the police, preliminary probe suggest that these devices were used to facilitate online betting during IPL matches, and account statements reflecting large transactions were found. The suspects were booked under various sections of the Gambling Act, and further investigation is underway. TNN
